Rob Evans, P.Eng. Ph.D.

Engineering Process Manager

ALCERECO’s Engineering Process Manager, Dr. Rob Evans, has more than 20 years of experience in aluminum processing R&D with a focus on process optimization and an understanding of process steps required to achieve satisfactory final material properties. Dr. Evans completed his undergraduate (B.A.Sc..H) and graduate (M.Sc. & Ph.D.) degrees at Queen’s University, and spent 15 years with Alcan and its subsequent spinoff, Novelis. During this time Dr. Evans was involved in product and process development in areas ranging from extrusion alloys to can and automotive sheet products. Dr. Evans’ principle expertise is in understanding methods for improvement of material quality, both dimensional and visible, through the full spectrum of an integrated rolling facility. While with Novelis he led the development of systems for vibration control in rolling, novel systems for ironing rolls, and in-situ and online monitoring of both mill health and product surface quality. Between his time with Novelis and his appointment to ALCERECO he has been consulting with suppliers and manufacturers of various flat-rolled products. He has worked with over 25 different facilities on 4 continents dealing with issues at the shop floor up to executive levels.
